engagement rings for nursesWomen who work with their hands all day at a job in the medical field always have to be concerned with their jewelry. They are hard on their hands! They have to worry about putting gloves on, washing their hands often and they are often working with patients all day. All of these factors combined make it a little more difficult when it comes time to choose an engagement ring for them that is still their taste but also great for their work.

We have a lot of people stopping by our stores who are looking for an engagement ring for a nurse. We've come up with our four most popular suggestions that we tell people when we hear that their girlfriends work in the medical field.

Take a look at some of the best engagement rings that you can buy for the nurse in your life:

# 1: Low-Set Diamond Engagement Rings

When it comes time to choose an engagement ring for a nurse, or any other medical profession, one of our first suggestions is to consider a low-set engagement ring. Many popular styles include a higher setting that position the diamond clearly above the band, like Tiffany or knife-edge settings. This is meant to show off the diamond and all its brilliance.

Today, there are countless styles of rings to choose from that position the diamond much lower, closer to the person's finger. Lower settings are perfect for women in the medical field because they can slip under gloves easier and won't get caught on anything as she works with her hands. It also helps keep her patients safe by preventing the risk of scratching them with a higher ring setting.

With nurses and other medical professionals, we also recommend choosing a ring in platinum vs other metals like white or yellow gold. This is because platinum is the most durable metal, which is perfect for anyone working with their hands. To understand some of the differences between platinum and gold, take a look at this article.

To show you visually, here is an example of a very high setting (left) vs a lower setting (right):

#2: Bezel Set Engagement Rings

Another suggestion we give anyone shopping for a nurse is to consider a bezel set engagement ring. Bezel set rings have a ring of metal that surrounds the diamond and protects the sides from any scratches or potential damage to the stone. This is perfect for any woman who works with their hands all day and who might have to worry about any sharp edges of the ring or the prongs interfering with her work.

There are many reasons to consider buying a bezel set engagement ring besides the added layer or protection. This style of ring is also unique and gives the center diamond a fuller appearance, making it look larger on her finger. This style also makes the diamond the center of attention and is a style that is unique yet becoming more popular. It once was a very popular style and is re-emerging as a more modern style these days.

#3: Multi-Row Diamond Bands

Another popular option to consider for nurses, or any medical professional, is a multi-row diamond band. This is a much more modern, untraditional way of thinking about an engagement ring. But, it could really work well for women in the medical field who work with their hands and really can't have a diamond that has a high setting.

One of our favorite designers, Mémoire, has a line of diamond bands in their pavé silk collection that are perfectly smooth. You could take one of those rings, run your finger across the rows of diamonds, and it would feel like silk!

Having a two, three, or four multi-row diamond band is a more bold choice because it's not very common. However, having this many small diamonds creates an unbelievable sparkle. People would be blinded by her finger. Tiny diamonds have the capacity to be more brilliant, or sparkly, because they have more facets and places on the stones where light can reflect back to your eye. With all of these tiny facets next to one another, it creates a blinding look that is simply beautiful.

#4: Stacks of Eternity Bands

Another much more recent choice for women in the medical field is a fashionable stack of eternity bands that replace the traditional diamond engagement ring. This is a great option for a woman who isn't afraid to be bold and who is fashion-forward.

Eternity bands are metal bands that have diamonds or gemstones all the way around the entire circumference. This symbolizes "never ending love," aka eternity. Many times, eternity bands are given to women on important anniversaries to add to their original wedding band stack. However, many young brides are opting to stack fashionable eternity bands together to create their own eternity stack from the start. Different types of metals can be mixed and matched as well as different shapes and cuts of diamonds to create a beautiful look.

This option is a great choice for nurses with the same added benefits of the multi-row diamond bands. She can easily slip her fingers under gloves or work with patients without having to worry about a diamond sticking out and getting caught or potentially hurting anyone. It's a safer option that still allows for her to express herself.
