New Hampshire’s 8 Best Locations To Propose Author Brianna Walsh Share Facebook Share on Facebook Email Email Date Feb 9, 2021 Engagement New Hampshire’s 8 Best Locations To Propose Picking out the perfect engagement ring will require a lot of thought and planning; but second to that is thinking through the proposal itself! You want to make sure where you propose is a location that is both special and unique. This will forever be "your" place, the one you always come back to and remember the time you got down on one knee. We've given plenty of advice on where to pop the question in Boston, but now that Long's is back in Nashua, NH, we wanted to help out our friends in the New Hampshire area as well. We teamed up with some of the top local wedding photographs that have a lot of experience helping couples choose the perfect locations in New Hampshire. Check out these 8 proposal spots across the state, some of which you may not have ever thought about. 1) Cathedral Ledge - White Mountains, NH Expert Tip & Photo Credit: Amara Photo Echo Lake Cathedral Ledge State Park is a great place to go for a swim, hike, picnic and pop the question to your loved one. A scenic trail around the lake provides great views, and the 700-foot Cathedral Ledge towers over the lake for even more unbelievable views. When you get to the top of the Cathedral Ledge you will see across the Saco River Valley and the White Mountains. It is an experience like no other, and getting engaged there would make it feel extra special and unique. If you are a couple that loves to stay fit and active and enjoys all the outdoors has to offer, then this is your place! 2) Odiorne Point State Park - Rye, NH Expert Tip & Photo Credit: Simply Mella At Odiorne Point State Park, you can enjoy sweeping views of the ocean and rocky shore. Odiorne point offers one of the most beautiful and diverse natural settings along New Hampshire's coastline with 135-acres of rocky shoreline, sandy beaches, salt marsh freshwater and salt ponds, dense forest, military and historical sites all connected by an extensive trail system. Surrounded by beautiful stonewalls overlooking the ocean, Odiore Point provides a natural backdrop and intimate setting for your proposal. It is a place where your day is filled with adventure and can end with romance and excitement. 3) Benedictine Park - Bedford, NH Expert Tip & Photo Credit: Simply Mella The Benedictine Conservation Land is 27.4 acres of active and passive recreational property ideal for cross country skiing, sledding, snowshoeing, walking/hiking, archery, picnicking, and bird watching. The property is home to two walking trails developed by the Bedford Land Trust. The trails - Perimeter and Cobb - are just under a mile. The Permiter Trail follows the edge of the open fields. The Cobb Trail is a woodland trail that parallels Riddle Brook after a moderately steep run through the woods and is marked with yellow trail markers. It is the perfect place for relaxing, taking in the views, and telling your S.O. how much you love them and that you are ready to spend the rest of your lives together. 4) Lake Sunapee - New London, NH Expert Tip & Photo Credit: The Spragues On New Hampshire's western border, you'll find Sunapee, a place rich in contrasts and character. This lake and mountain area is beloved for their beauty, recreation, peace and relaxation. If you are looking for all of that and more in your proposal location, then this is the perfect place to make it happen during any season of the year. For more than a century, people have been in awe over these natural wonders, so imagine the awe your S.O. would have if they were looking at the spectacular scenery as you pull out a ring! 5) Massabesic Audubon Center - Auburn, NH Photo Credit: AliCaliPhoto.com Expert advice: "The Massabesic Audubon Center in Auburn, NH, is a wonderful spot for a proposal for those who enjoy nature. It's got easy walking trails, beautiful plants, flowers and open fields where you can easily find yourself alone to ask the most important question of your lives. There are also beautiful lakeside spots. It's usually not very crowded and would be a great place to have a professional photographer capture the proposal. A photographer could easily be assumed to be photographing all that nature has to offer without seeming like they were there for you." We love Massabesic Audubon Center for a proposal spot not just for all its great features, but also the special history it holds. It is a nonprofit statewide membership organization that is dedicated to the conservation of wildlife and habitat throughout the state of New Hampshire. For years their mission has been to protect New Hampshire's natural environment for wildlife and for people. 6) Wallis Sands State Beach - Rye, NH Photo Credit: AliCaliPhoto.com Expert advice: "Outside of the peak beach season, Wallis Sands is mostly empty of people. You and your spouse-to-be can spend time walking on the beach, and after a short walk, sitting together on one of the benches above the beach, overlooking the rocky coast watching the waves roll in and talking about your life together. All leading up to that perfect moment when you pop the question. This is also a really great spot for having a professional photographer capture those moments as they happen. There are plenty of places your photographer can be that are discreet and would not be noticeable to your significant other. Allowing you to have those perfect moments of your story preserved forever." New Hampshire is not a state that is known for their beaches, but that's why we think this place is truly one-of-a-kind. With the oceanfront, views of the Isles of Shoals and sandy beach that everyone enjoys, you can't help but feel happy and relaxed when being here. Wallis Sands is the ultimate romantic spot for New Hampshire lovers. 7) Strawberry Banke - Portsmouth, NH Expert Tip & Photo Credit: AliCaliPhoto.com The gardens at Strawberry Banke are beyond gorgeous, and with over five gardens, it leaves you with so many options. From historic gardens to present day, no matter which one you tour, all the landscape is equally beautiful. If you are planning a spring engagement session, this is the place to go where the gardens are at their peak with the best floral arrangements. 8) Prescott Park - Portsmouth, NH Expert Tip & Photo Credit: AliCaliPhoto.com Prescott Park was created and has been maintained by the last will and testament of Josie. F Prescott, a life long resident of Portsmouth. It was her wish that a public park, free and accessible to all be established along the Portsmouth waterfront, replacing what had become a run down industrial area. Today you will that the park has come a long way throughout all the years it has been around. The best place to pop the question in this beautiful park? The formal garden that is home to tons of gorgeous flowers and trees. We have never seen a place covered in more flowers, surrounding fountains and benches. It's quiet, so you two can enjoy each others' company and get to look out at a romantic scenery. This is truly a perfect spot for you and your S.O. to start your journey together.
