One of the true hallmarks of a vintage ring is the cut of the diamond. Old mine cut and Old European cut diamonds are not something you see very often these days (they have since been replaced by today’s standard, the brilliant cut), but there is something about their old world, vintage charm that makes them special. Mined between 1890 and 1930, Old European cut diamonds are round, sparkling and entirely cut by hand. We love their unique character and the earthy look of the diamond facets! Old mine cuts go back even further. They date back to the 1700's, but were most prevalent during the Georgian and Victorian eras. Four of our featured rings have old mine cut diamonds while this vintage two-tone solitaire engagement ring features an Old European cut diamond.

Another outstanding characteristic of vintage engagement rings is the array of unique designs and styles. From the bow motifs of the Edwardian era to the geometric, art deco designs of the 1920's, antique and vintage rings are swimming in character. Cluster rings were very popular during the Victorian era. We love how feminine these are. Cluster rings often featured colored gemstones set in the middle with smaller diamonds surrounding it to resemble flowers.
