Old mine cut and Old European cut diamonds are not something you see very often these days (they have since been replaced by today’s standard, the brilliant cut), but there is something about their old world, vintage charm that makes them special. Mined between 1890 and 1930, Old European cut diamonds are round, sparkling and entirely cut by hand. We love their unique character and the earthy look of the diamond facets! Old mine cuts go back even further. They date back to the 1700's, but were most prevalent during the Georgian and Victorian eras. Four of our featured rings have old mine cut diamonds while this vintage two-tone solitaire engagement ring features an Old European cut diamond. Another outstanding characteristic of vintage engagement rings is the array of unique designs and styles. From the bow motifs of the Edwardian era to the geometric, art deco designs of the 1920's, antique and vintage rings are swimming in character. Cluster rings were very popular during the Victorian era. We love how feminine these are. Cluster rings often featured colored gemstones set in the middle with smaller diamonds surrounding it to resemble flowers. This ring is set with an old mine cut light brown diamond and further set with two rows of 23 old mine cut diamonds. Speaking of flowers, we also love how the prongs on this antique 14k yellow gold solitaire ring appear to form a floral design with the diamond as the center. The majority of antique and vintage rings were crafted by hand. Because of this, you'll find slight variances between the detailing of two seemingly similar rings that will make you appreciate the craftsmanship that went into it. No two rings will be exactly the same. This means with a vintage ring you can truly be one-of-a-kind! Would you rock a vintage engagement ring?
