Like other vintage cut stones, old mine cut diamonds were hand cut to increase the stone's color and clarity. As the name indicates, these cuts retain most of the rough form of the diamond as it came from the mine. The most prominent characteristics of these diamonds are the open culet (the round facet at the bottom of the stone) and it's square-like cushion shape. The very top facet, called the table, is very small, and features a high crown and large pavilion.
