Ring Cleaning Cost: $80

No matter how careful you are with your jewelry, it will eventually get scratched or dirty. When this happens, bring it in for a cleaning so you can get that eye-catching shine back!

How much does it cost to clean a ring? The average cost is $80, although some jewelers will include this as a free service depending on your warranty, like us! Any piece that you purchase from Long's Jewelers can be brought in to one of our retail locations for a free cleaning. Each one of our stores has professional grade ultrasonic baths and steam cleaners, so our trained technicians can clean your piece in house while you wait.

If you get your jewelry cleaned but notice that there are still blemishes, you may want to consider getting it polished. Unless you have a complex piece of jewelry, this service should cost you $80 and will buff out any shallow scratches in the metal.

If your piece is made of white gold and you notice that it is losing its white color, you may want to consider getting the rhodium re-plated. This involves additional work and valuable materials to give your piece a clean white gold color, so it will typically also run you in the $80 range for a ring and up for a bracelet.

Re-Sizing Ring Cost: $90-$200+

Having a ring that doesn't fit properly is a real hassle - it can run the risk of falling off if it’s too large or cutting off circulation if it’s too small. If your ring doesn't fit as perfectly as it once did, you may want to consider getting it re-sized.

How much is a ring resizing? The price of resizing a ring depends on a few factors: the type of metal, whether you are sizing up or down, how many sizes you are having it altered by, and how wide or intricate the ring is.

You can expect to pay somewhere within the price range of $90 to $200+, with the average price being in the $90 to $140 range.

Repair or Replace a Necklace Chain: $30-$230

If the chain on your favorite necklace breaks, don’t despair. Instead of replacing it outright, you can likely fix it by getting it soldered back together. Necklace chain repair will cost you anywhere from $30 to $230 depending on the type of metal and the area of the chain that needs to be soldered.

More specifically, platinum or gold chain soldering of a single link is a simple repair which will cost around $35 and $30 respectively. However, something more complex, such as soldering a hinged joint can cost between $55 and $230.

Bracelet or Necklace Clasp Replacement: $65-$250+

How to fix a necklace clasp - one of the most common repairs needed? If you have a faulty or broken clasp, it is only a matter of time until your necklace or bracelet falls off and renders it unusable. Get a bracelet or necklace clasp repair and prevent yourself from losing a cherished piece!

Depending on the style, the size, and the type of metal that the clasp is made of, bracelet or necklace repair can cost you between $65 and $250. To give you a better idea of what your clasp replacement might cost, a standard gold 5 mm spring ring clasp can cost $30.

Lobster clasps contain more metal and are therefore a little more expensive to replace. These will fall in the $65 to $250 price range depending on the size and material.

Re-setting Stones & Ring Prong Repair Costs: $50-$175

Gemstones can add color and sparkle to your jewelry, so when one falls out the piece just doesn't feel the same. There are so many different stone shapes and setting styles, and as you can probably guess this means that there are many different prices. To give you an idea of the ring repair costs that you can expect, we have provided some price ranges below.

Resetting a round cut diamond into a prong setting will cost you between $100 and $175 depending on the carat weight of the stone. A fancy cut that is in a prong setting will cost you between $125 and $175+.

Other settings include pave and flush set stones. These will cost around $50 and $60 respectively. Plus refinishing, depending on the value of the stone and the labor needed.
