Can You Wear Luxury Watches During Marathons? Author Lynelle Schmidt Share Facebook Share on Facebook Email Email Date Sep 22, 2014 Watches Can You Wear Luxury Watches During Marathons? You are about to participate in a marathon, but what do you do with that nice watch you just bought? Buying a luxury watch is a big investment, and even if you never want to part with your timepiece, you need to make sure it is worn under the right circumstances. This past Sunday, Long's Jewelers participated again in the Jimmy Fund Walk, which follows the Boston Marathon's 26.2 mile journey from Hopkinton to Boston. And, as always, we did it in style. Two of our team members wore their own luxury watches (spoiler alert: the watches ended up being completely fine). Now, we should clarify that while this was a "marathon," there was no running involved. If there was, we would have advised against wearing these nice watches in this situation. However, since the marathon was all walking (for over 8 hours!), these luxury watches could easily tag along for the ride. Our rule of thumb when it comes to wearing luxury watches during marathons is to consider the pace and amount of perspiration that will be produced by your body. There is an extra amount of risk involved with wearing luxury watches when running. This is especially important to pay attention to if your luxury watch is not waterproof. But, for any sort of walking or low impact physical activity, go ahead and look stylish while you do it. Long's has been a sponsor of the annual Jimmy Fund Walk for over 20 years and our team of employees looks forward to doing it again (even with our watches)!
